Lo Tahoma Campsites – Permanently Closed
Important Update
The campsites at Lo Tahoma are permanently closed. Due to the WSDOT closure of the historic Fairfax Bridge, the property no longer has public access.
Thank you to everyone who camped here, took a class, or wandered the forest trails. Your support helped shape something special.
About the Campsites
This quiet, off-grid retreat sat on an 18-acre homestead near the Carbon River entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. Shaded by old-growth cedars, the site offered walk-in campsites, river access, and forest trails just beyond the tent flaps.
Visitors also joined hands-on classes in sustainable living—milling lumber with a portable sawmill, learning low-impact skills, and spending time offline in the woods. It was a basecamp for nearby trails like Chenuis Falls, Green Lake, and the path to Carbon Glacier.
Although the site is no longer open, the spirit of the place lives on. It offered something rare: stillness, space, and time to slow down. Many found quiet mornings, trail time, and a deeper connection to the land.
