Expect delays on SR 706 between Elbe and Mount Rainier National Park

SR 706 construction continues between Elbe and Mount Rainier National Park

ELBE – Before the Labor Day weekend, people traveling State Route 706 between Elbe and Mount Rainier National Park are urged to continue adding extra travel time. Travelers should add 45 minutes to travel through roadwork on the highway leading to Mount Rainier’s Nisqually entrance.

Roadwork schedule

  • 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 25-26
  • 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1

Three weeks after Sept. 1, crews will return to install permanent lane markings.

The highway preservation project allows crews to resurface more than 13-miles of SR 706. Additional information about the importance of highway preservation available via the WSDOT Blog.
