Navigating Mount Rainier’s Timed Entry Reservation Program

Gearing up for an adventure at Mount Rainier National Park?

Understanding the park’s new Timed Entry Reservation Program is crucial. Here are helpful tips for making the most of your visit this summer.

MOUNT RAINIER RESERVATION REQUIREMENT

All visitors, including pass holders, must reserve entry during designated time slots from May 24 to September 2. Timed entry reservations are required for access to the Paradise Corridor and the Sunrise Corridor, operating from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

HOW TO RESERVE

Head to the official Recreate.gov website or give their reservation hotline a call. Select your preferred date and time slot for entry.

CANCELLATION OR MODIFICATION

Plans change? No worries! You can adjust or cancel your reservation online or by phone, ensuring flexibility for all visitors. The $2 reservation fee is non-refundable. If reservations are not canceled when plans change, it may prevent other visitors from securing a spot to visit the park.

SAME DAY PASSES

While limited, same-day passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To guarantee your spot, plan, and book in advance.

PEAK SEASON TIP

During peak times, slots fill up fast. Beat the rush by reserving early, guaranteeing your preferred entry time and entrance.

ENTRY DETAILS

Timed entry reservations are valid per vehicle and require the park entrance fee or pass. Remember, entry outside reserved hours is permitted before 7:00 AM or after 3:00 PM.

EXISTING RESERVATIONS & PERMITS

Guests with accommodation or campground bookings within the corridors may use proof of reservation for entry at or after 1:00 PM on their scheduled arrival date. Wilderness permits or special use permits may also suffice—check specifics for each permit.

RESERVATION RELEASE DATES

Grab your calendars! Timed entry reservations open up 90 days in advance. Release dates are staggered, so plan accordingly for the Paradise and Sunrise Corridors.

TO PLACE A TIMED ENTRY RESERVATION FOR RAINIER

Please stick to official channels! Timed entry reservations are only available through Recreation.gov. Avoid scams—never purchase reservations from third parties. You can also call Recreation.gov at (877) 444-6777, between the hours of 7 am – 9 pm PT.
