The Washington State Department of Transportation has temporarily reduced the speed limit on a section of State Route 7 north of Alder while crews monitor a hillside adjacent to the highway.

The speed reduction will be in place until further notice. WSDOT crews are monitoring the hillside after recent rains bought small debris onto the shoulder.

Crews will replace existing 50 mile-per-hour speed limit signs with 25 mile-per-hour speed limit signs. The temporary speed reduction affects SR 7 from milepost 23.69 to milepost 23.78. The lowered speed limit will be enforceable as soon signs are posted.

WSDOT reminds drivers to pay attention to work zones.

Before heading out the door, travelers can find the latest road conditions on the WSDOT app and by following the WSDOT regional Twitter feed.
