Tahoma Stay is a one-story, one-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin with a cedar steam sauna and hot tub.

Deeply connected to nature, the owners/operators of Tahoma Stay incorporate the beauty of the outdoors throughout the property. The cabin features original Tom Mattioli oil paintings inspired by Rainier. To learn more about Tom’s artwork, click here. The artwork, stone fireplace, and boulder-inspired sink speak to the owner’s love of nature.

Recently renovated, the property has new flooring, furnishings, and décor. The bedroom has a queen bed, and the living room sofa converts to a queen-size-sofa sleeper. The maximum occupancy is four people. The kitchen has full-size stainless steel appliances and a convection oven. The kitchen has basic spices, condiments, an air fryer, flatware, pots and pans, a toaster, a coffee maker, a French press, paper products, and dish soap. There’s a large island for food prep and dining.

Complimentary breakfast items may vary.

The typical assortment of breakfast items includes eggs, waffles, sausage, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

There are several outdoor areas to meditate, relax, dine, and play.

Games like Cornhole, bocce, horseshoes, croquet, and darts are available. An outdoor shower with hot or cold water is near the hot tub to rinse off before and after a soak. A private hot tub offers views of an outdoor fireplace and towering Douglas firs. On a clear night, guests can relax in the spa and stargaze. The outdoor grill has a trailhead-themed awning providing partial cover so guests can more conveniently grill in all four seasons. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine on the covered front porch. A more romantic outdoor dining table is closer to the forest.

A fire starter, kindling, and one bundle of firewood are included with the rental. Please do not bring in firewood from outside of the area. Additional firewood is available for purchase in Ashford. Given the proximity to the national forest, guests are encouraged to watch for wildlife. Give wildlife plenty of space, and never feed a wild animal.

Guests of the Tahoma Stay have access to an exclusive community lake for swimming or kayaking.

Tahoma Stay is located 5 miles from the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier National Park and within walking distance of the Nisqually River overlook. The cabin has Dish TV and WIFI. Tahoma Stay is near outdoor recreation with miles of hiking/biking trails.

Two kayaks and paddles are available to explore the community lake or area of Alder lake, with year-round access. Do not use kayaks on the river. Bring your life vests or personal floatation devices. Tie-down straps are available. A trailer to pull the kayaks is not. A signed waiver and release form is required to use the kayaks. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to use the kayaks. A pair of snowshoes (Women and men) is available for guests to use during their stay.

A push-button propane generator is available in the event of a power outage. The generator can power small electrical loads like lighting, tv, router, microwave, and a small electric heater. An electric outage kit with a flashlight and candles is available.

Additional Info

This property can accommodate one dog. Study the pet policy and pet fee before booking this unit. Mention your pet when placing reservations. The proximity to the state forest means wildlife is present. Due to staff allergies, no cats. A portable kennel and dog dishes are available.

A 2-night minimum stay is in effect in June, July, August, the first week of September, and holiday weekends.

If coming from the south (Portland, OR area) in the winter months, please check the road status to ensure your route is open.

Cabins in the mountain can experience power outages from time to time. Tahoma Stay has a generator available to use during an outage. The generator is easy to use but will not power the entire cabin.
