For those who see the snow and feel the need for speed, this is the one place in the park where sleds are welcome – and expected! Squeals and laughter fill the air as people of all ages have a blast careening down the hill. The Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise will be open during the weekend and on President’s Day from 10:00am – 5:00pm. At Longmire, the National Park Inn Dining Room and Longmire Museum will also be open. The Paradise Snowplay Area Vitals: Where: The snowplay area is located north of the upper parking lot at Paradise When: The snowplay area opens mid-December once five feet of snow is on the ground. It closes each year near the end of March. What: “Soft” sliding devices such as flexible sleds, inner tubes, and saucers are allowed. No hard toboggans or runner sleds.
