About The Overlook near Mount Rainier National Park

Located off the main highway in Ashford, Washington, the Overlook is situated next to 40 acres of private forest. Guests of the Overlook can relax in a private 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. The layout offers two bedrooms with a queen-size bed, one room with 2 twin beds, and two 3/4 baths. Guests will find the kitchen fully stocked with coffee, tea, spices, cooking oil, and dishware. The living area features a wood-burning stove with additional central heating and air conditioning. Guests can relax on a large front deck or a private covered back deck. Wi-Fi, laundry, and bath soap are provided.

About the location

Ashford is a quiet little gateway community just six miles from the Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, open year-round. The Overlook vacation rental is adjacent to Rainier BaseCamp; home of RMI Expeditions (Mountain Guide Service), Whittaker Mountaineering, BaseCamp Bar & Grill (open April-Sept), and Whittaker’s Bunkhouse and Espresso Cafe. The private forest behind the Overlook features a one-mile loop hiking/walking trail, with a pond and abundant wildlife.

Guests are within easy walking distance to each of the small local markets, Ashford County Park, and the Trailhead Bar & Grill.  

Area activities

Hiking, climbing, year-round guided horseback tours, fishing, snowshoeing, visits to the local sculpture park, and scenic drives.  Rainier BaseCamp Bar & Grill offers live music from Memorial Day through Labor Day each summer.
