Leony’s Cellars in Enumclaw

Leony's CellarsWoman veteran and family owned, Leony’s Cellars in Enumclaw welcomes you to experience wine tasting without pretension.

The story of Leony’s Cellars begins in 2014 when Sandi Moreno was active duty in the US Navy and searching Craigslist for a wine barrel to become a backyard table. She came across a listing for a boutique winery for sale in Cashmere.  After exchanging emails with the seller, he said: “if you are really interested you should come over and take a look”.  The Morenos drove from Puyallup to Cashmere to check it out.

The seller agreed to teach the Morenos how to make wine, so they took the leap and became winemakers. The first year the seller stayed on to teach them the basics, how to use the equipment and how to start and complete fermentation. After the first vintage, the winery’s name was changed the name to Leony’s Cellars in 2015. The name Leony’s, meaning Lioness’s, is Sandi’s middle name, given to her in honor of my Great-Grandma Alta Leony’s.

In 2016 the Morenos attended the wine maker’s academy at South Seattle Community College to increase their winemaking knowledge and techniques. Although Leony’s Cellars is a boutique winery, every year they work to increase production from 300 gallons the first year on their own up to 2,400 gallons last year.
