The Hard Cider Express will venture into the forest and foothills of Mt. Rainier on September 8th and 9th, 2018.
All Aboard! Guests can sample various cideries using Pacific Northwest apples across Washington state. Get ready for an experiential journey on the Milwaukee Road where visitors can enjoy cider, rails, and the forests and foothills of Mt. Rainier all in one afternoon! Taste various Washington cideries and converse with cidermakers on board and at our historic logging camp destination! Board your coach from the platform at the historic Elbe Depot, and get ready to savor the ride through the Nisqually Valley and cross rivers and streams in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. Passengers will be introduced to the cideries and enjoy a light sampling of the various beverages you can expect to learn more about at the event site.
Once at the Railroad and Logging Museum, full sampling stations from cideries will be set up. Visit each of the cideries to learn how it is made. Several award-winning cideries will be represented on each trip and cidermakers will be anxious to tell you the story of their process and their
business. Standard Class train coaches are Tacoma Rail cars representative of the 1950’s era Amtrak passengers cars offering reserved seating in a climate-controlled environment with comfortable front-facing upholstered seats in paired rows.Ride in style in First Class aboard 1940s Olympian Hiawatha coaches from the Milwaukee Road. These table-and-chair coaches allow for parties of 4 to sit facing each other with reserved seating in a climate-controlled environment. First Class tickets include the additional amenities of a dedicated car attendant, complimentary snacks and beverages, and tabletop activities for the youngsters – and young at heart!Your fare includes tastings throughout the excursion, a souvenir Mt. Rainier Railroad and Logging Museum commemorative glass, live musical entertainment, a scrumptious barbeque meal at the museum and dessert served during the train ride home.
