Slug Fest reigns supreme as one of the zaniest weekends of the year at Northwest Trek. Celebrate all that is slimy and silly about the Pacific Northwest’s most valuable and misunderstood mollusk: the yellow-greenish banana slug.
Banana slugs are fascinating decomposers that break down organic matter and return nutrients to the soil. Without decomposers, forest floors would quickly become overrun with plant and animal waste, rather than being a beautiful place for regrowth.
To celebrate banana slugs, trams will be equipped with tentacles as they make their way through the wildlife park’s 435-acre Free-Roaming Area on an animal-watching Discovery Tram Tour.
Make slug crafts and tentacles to take home. See animals up close during special Animal Encounters at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. And get ready to slip and slime down a soapy track to victory during human slug races! All FREE with admission. For lodging near Northwest Trek Wildlife Park click here.

Participants will be provided with optimal conditions to take action shots of animals. From the tram, you may see moose, mountain goats, bison, bighorn sheep and more in varying natural habitats.
Reservations are limited to 13 people to ensure plenty of room for guests to move around and set up monopods. Tram windows are removed to allow a clear view of wildlife, so dress and pack weather-appropriate gear.
Photo Tours at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park are ideal for ages 18 and older.
Rates: $65 for Members / $70 for Non-Members. Includes admission to park on the day of the event and a tram tour.
