Cab Rides at the Mt. Rainier Railroad

When we say cab rides, we’re not talking about taxis!

Take the ride of your life at the Mt. Rainier Railroad in the cab of a century-old steam locomotive. When the steam engine roars to life it’s a phenomenal sensory experience. You’ll never forget the first time you hear the steam, feel the rumble and the roar of the engine.

Locomotive cab rides are available between Elbe Depot and the museum in Mineral on most train excursions. Ride alongside the engineer and fireman of a vintage steam or diesel locomotive on board a scheduled excursion through the forests and foothills of Mt. Rainier. A one-way cab ride from Elbe to Mineral or from Mineral to Elbe lasts approximately 30-35 minutes. A Standard or First Class seat ticket is required in advance to complete the round-trip experience. Round-trip cab rides are available with no seat ticket purchase necessary. Please arrive at Elbe Depot 45 minutes prior to the train’s departure.

Contact [email protected] or call 360-492-6000 for date and time availability at least 48 hours before your requested departure.
