LOCATION: Just east of Ashford, travel south on Kernahan Road for approx. 2 miles, the road makes a hard left turn and becomes Forest Route 52 (Skate Creek Road). The campground is on the right approximately 1/2 mile after this corner.

From Packwood, travel west on Forest Road 52 (Skate Creek Road) for approximately 20 miles.  The campground is on the left.

This beautiful campground set in a wooded area close to the west entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park is a great getaway for a camping trip. Big Creek Campground is a single-loop campground located close to the west entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park. Some sites overlook Big Creek. The lush vegetation provides good privacy between sites but also in some of the campsites may prove challenging when pitching a tent. This campground is pet-friendly. There are no RV hookups or waste stations at this campground. Nearby hiking is available at the Osborn Mountain Trail #250 (foot, horse, mountain bike & dirt bike) – 5.5 miles

Q: Can I stay at Big Creek Campground with my 22 foot long RV? 

A: Yes.  Big Creek can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs, with a maximum vehicle length of 22 feet. 

Q: How far is Big Creek Campground from the High Rock Lookout tower? 

A: It’s an approximate 12 miles/32 minutes drive from the campground to the trailhead via NF-84.

Q: Are pets allowed? 

A: Yes. 

Q: Is there any good fishing nearby? 

A: Rumour has it there are brookies to fish for in the creek. 

Q: How close is Big Creek Campground to Mount Rainier? 

A: It’s approximately a 6-mile drive from the campground to the Nisqually Entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. It’s about 21 miles from the campground up to Paradise.
